Who can enrol into our Firefighting Equipment Course?
WAM Training’s Firefighting Equipment Course is suitable for anyone who needs to be able to use fire extinguishers, fire reels and fire blankets to extinguish small fires at your workplace.
To be eligible to enrol into our Firefighting Equipment Course, you team member must:
- Be a minimum 18 years of age
- Have a valid USI (you can create one for free or look yours up at www.usi.gov.au)
Experience working with safety-related paperwork is preferred, but not essential.
It’s important that each attendee is able to speak English clearly and be able to understand and complete worksite documentation relating to emergencies.

Firefighting Equipment Course structure
With a blend of theoretical and practical activities, our highly skilled Trainer will guide your team in the correct use of firefighting equipment, including using fire extinguishers to extinguish real fires!
Do we also need Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden training?
To be compliant with Australian Standard AS3745 Planning for emergencies in facilities, employers should have a Chief Fire Warden and Fire Wardens on site. We recommend checking out our Fire Warden & Chief Fire Warden Course.
Language, literacy and numeracy requirements
Trainees need to be able to speak English clearly, understand and complete worksite documentation, and explain and describe issues relating to facility-type emergencies.
Our expert Trainer will guide and support your team through the learning process, but it’s important to understand that the formal assessments are closed-book.

Absolutely! Just email them through to info@wamtraining.com.au and we will arrange for our Trainer to do a read-through of the documents with your team during their course.
The Firefighting Equipment Course cost is $2,000.00 (GST Exempt) and a maximum of 12 people may attend.
Submit an Onsite Course Enquiry to recieve a detailed quote, including travel and accommodation charges (which normally apply if your site is greater than 100km from Melbourne).
Upon successful completion of our Firefighting Course, Trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment validating their skills and knowledge. You can also request copies of your team’s certificates after they complete their training so that you don’t have to chase them up internally.
WAM Training’s Firefighting Equipment Course takes around 4 hours. We normally start at 7:45am, but please let us know if you’d prefer a different start time.
As soon as we receive your Attendance List and Attendee Email Addresses, we’ll send through our Firefighting Equipment Course Handbook which we recommend they study before commencing.
More often than not, when someone fails WAM Training’s Firefighting Equipment Course, it’s due to not paying attention. Our highly experienced Trainers have worked with hundreds of Trainees to improve their emergency response capabilities. But at the end of the day, it’s up to your team to pay attention and participate during their Firefighting Equipment Course.
WAM Training recommends that firefighting equipment retraining occurs every 2 years. However, it’s important that your Employer has a policy outlining your internal refresher requirements.
